Jacobum Broedelet, 1723. Tomus II. Original leatherbinding, with gilding on spine. Marbled edges. Some wear to leather around edges and lightly creased back. With previous owner's name on flyleaf. With 3 pages of woodcut illustrations of Roman sigils. Minor instances of foxing inside, otherwise very clean copy.

W. H: Nieupoort: The history of the Roman republic and empire from the founding of the city to the year 727 of the city. Whereupon the sum of the Empire was conveyed to Octavian Caesar with the name of Augustus.
Vol. II contains book 6-10, commencing with the Third Punic War and ending with Octavian's assumption of the name Augustus.

Willem Hendrik Nieupoort (1670 - 1730), also known as Neoportus, was a Dutch lawyer and historian. He specialised in ancient history, and was professor of Ancient History at the Univeristy of Utrecht.
